Wtf was that?

Post-election thoughts + upcoming community gathering

Y’all I don’t even know where to begin. This time last week feels like a completely different reality. I’m sure I’m not alone in the collective shock, grief, anger, sadness, and fear that I experienced after the election. Wherever you are in the waves of grief is completely valid. ❤️

After many hours of doomscrolling on TikTok trying to piece together how we got here, I’m finding myself a little more steady this week. A little more anchored in myself. I’m still very worried about how the reality of what we’re about to live through is going to impact people I care about and people who are deeply marginalized in our society. At the same time, I recognize that last week was an important initiation moment for the collective. An initiation into an ongoing process of change needed to create a better world for good. That doesn’t make the reality of that process less scary but it does provide me with a sense of clarity around the importance of the work I’m doing and that I think many of us are feeling called to do.

As we create this new world, it will require all of our dreams, skill sets, and gifts to be clear, fully actualized, and fully owned. This is not a time to play small or wait for somebody else to fix it. We’re all being called to contribute our special sauce to the mix. For me that looks like not getting so consumed by social media and fear that I deprioritize my work. That looks like still holding space for meditations, and actively seeking spaces to pour into myself. That looks like still making time for play and continuing to shape my life in a way that allows me to be in service without sacrificing myself in the process.

I can’t tell you what that looks like for you and I would be weary of anyone that tells you they can. I’ve seen more “what now” videos and meetings than I can count. Although I do think mobilization is important, I can’t ignore the whisper of an African proverb I learned through Cassandra Lam of Collective Rest, “The times are urgent; Let us slow down.” As current events intensify and we continue to experience more unprecedented times, I want more people to be deeply connected to themselves and their own ways of knowing so that they can access the exact instructions that make sense for them at this moment in time. Maybe it is joining the socialist party, connecting with a mutual aid group, or doing research on how to survive fascism, or maybe it’s lying your ass down and taking a nap. Whatever it is, it’s valid. We all have our own directions that are hopefully guiding us to the same location of liberation.

Wishing you lots of ease, rest, and clarity as we settle into this new timeline. I’m feeling called to hold more space for community so make sure you’re following me on Instagram for updates. Last week I held a processing session for the election and on November 24th, I’ll be hosting a virtual cozy craft corner. Visit here to register: https://partiful.com/e/vgGG9qTNLovrORyiv9Wy. I’m also still holding free/donation-based 1:1 energy work sessions through the end of the year so feel free to book a session here.

Let me know if there’s anything else that would be supportive from an energy work/self-care perspective. I got y’all. Let’s get free. ❤️

With gratitude,

Paula
